The IBWC is a contest held during the development of the World Bulk Wine Exhibition, the most important bulk wine fair of the world: this year 183 samples from 11 countries have participated in the 2022 IBWC.
Argentina harvested 1 Grand Gold Medal in the IBWC with DESCARRIADOS from FINCA BUENAVENTURA SA (Argentina) , 5 Gold Medals and 4 Silver Medals in the competition.
The Gold Medals went to LOS CLOP from CLOP WINES, ANTIGUA BODEGA MALBEC RESERVA from ANTIGUA BODEGA, BODEGA KINETA from KINETA SA that won 2 medals, and MALBEC FINCA 1948 from WENFOR S.A.
Whilst the Silver Medals were for SINFIN MALBEC SUPER PREMIUM BODEGA SINFIN, BAJO PIEDRA BODEGA HÉCTOR MELI, MALBEC 2022 GALEANO ANTONACCI and MALBEC LOST VALLEY
24 jurors from 15 different countries have had the responsibility for grating the awards: 4 Grand Gold medals, 22 Gold medals and 30 Silver medals. The well known Wine Consultant Cristina Pandolfi was the only juror of Argentina, representing the country in this contest.
The IBWC is a unique competition in the world since it offers the opportunity of tasting wines from this year’s harvest. Some of them have been produced only three months before the fair, others were elaborated at the beginning of the year, depending on the hemisphere in which the producing wineries are located.
This characteristic turns the tasting session into a singular experience; not only must the wines’ quality be assessed but also their potential for succeeding in the market.
The IBWC assesses the promise of future wines. This is the competition for wines that will set market trends before they are discovered by buyer It is an opportunity for everyone on the tasting
